Whether private or public, small, medium-sized or multinationals, all organizations are in flux. They look nothing the same as a decade ago and will continue evolving in the coming years through restructuring, downsizing, mergers and acquisitions, introduction of new procedures, policies or culture etc.
In this context, companies heavily invest in change strategies, technologies and sytems. But what is downplayed is how to lead the organization, stakeholders and staff at large through the transition process as they internalize and come to terms with the change event.
While strategic plans are essential, getting people through the renewal sequence is the key if the change is actually to work as planned. Indeed, it is the people who have to carry out the shift. They are the ones who have to let go of old behaviors and start engaging in a new way of doing things.
